This is my first "bootcamp" workout experience and am very impressed with Optimal Health and Fitness.  I dislike the gym atmosphere and love to be outdoors, so this seemed perfect for me.  It has exceeded my expectations and I can't imagine not having these classes be a part of my daily routine.

The locations they use are inspiring and diverse. They change each week Seabright, Natural Bridges, Westcliff, Pogonip, Wilder, Fredrick Park, DeLa Vega, Capitola, etc.  There is a variety of natural elements that are incorporated into the workouts which keeps things interesting.  

The workouts become more challenging each week and include cardio, core, strength, and stretch. It's a total body workout and the trainers are focused and creative and they always bring a little something new and different to their sessions.  They always provide modifications if necessary and the atmosphere is fun and non-competitive and more about exceeding your own previous limitations.

OHF also does a very good job communicating via email and providing opportunities to make up a session if you have a conflict. The prices are very reasonable and the value is outstanding.

I have been doing bootcamp w/OHF for three years and I'm still not tired of it. I was tired of working out in a gym, looking at machines, sweaty people, and walls. The fact that bootcamp changes locations and varies the workouts is so appealing to a person like me who can get bored with the same old routine. 

The trainers are both challenging and kind, and they support bootcampers in our goals, even when we're tired and not so interested in our goals ourselves. You'll never regret waking up for amazing sunrises, or jogging into rainbow sunsets. This bootcmap challenges you AT YOUR LEVEL. If you're a great athlete, the trainers adjust the routine to work you harder; if you haven't worked out in months or years, they are able to modify the workout so it is both challenging and enjoyable. It is not a military style-bootcamp, which I was a bit afraid of. I went to one of those once and did not have fun. OHF is all about working you a bit more than you think you can do so you are ever-achieving more. 

On a personal note, LeTa is one of the warmest, loveliest human beings I know, and she always seems to know just what i need to get the most out of my workout. She'll ask about my life and how things are going, and it's nice to feel valued as a human in a business I support so much financially. Caitlin has boundless energy and a welcoming spirit and definitely knows how to push me past my self-imposed limitations. Both are GREAT trainers and people!

This is such a unique and amazing class--calling it a class, does not do it justice! We are so lucky to have it here in Santa Cruz!

STAYS FRESH and NEW for YEARS!: I have rarely been able to stick with something for months, yet alone years! I have been a regular for 2x/week for the past 5 years. It never gets boring because the locations rotate, the workouts rotate, the locations are beautiful in nature, and you have good company!

Not just a workout, A COMMUNITY: I first joined --new to Santa Cruz and I knew few people. I have since many friends over the years through bootcamp --over time as new people join. LeTa has an amazing ability to be welcoming to every new person and create a mini community within bootcamp, with every new member! I always look forward to going and never question whether or not I will workout or not in the week. At gymns, yoga classes or any other form of workout I have tried, I stopped going after a while. In part because they feel so anonymous. Here, everyone always expects you to come--you are missed, and you have fun, so you keep showing up.

MAKES WORKING OUT FUN:  The time flies. You can chat, look at the ocean and see dolphins sometimes, while you are also using a tension band or doing crunches. Before you know it the 1.15 min has passed. I never dread going! You will never want to go to the gymn again!

NOT INTIMIDATING, for ALL LEVELS: People of various fitness levels have come over the years and what so great its so adjustable for where you are. I have been to other bootcamps and felt very intimated before, or like I couldnt keep up. Here, we really support eachother, are non competitive and no matter what your level is, you can adjust it to have a good workout.  It is the only time in my life I had close to a six pack (abs)--and I have tried tons of various workouts before!

BE IN NATURE, while working out: I learned so many gorgeous spots I didnt know about in Santa Cruz. I love getting to explore these spots well and becoming familiar with the various ocean views, and trails. Some places I would not explore on my own. The sunrises and sunsets are amazing--- after just  an hour, this class always shifts me after a long hard day.

Does it get any better than exercising to the sunrise or sunset along the Santa Cruz coast? I think not. Fresh air, beautiful scenery, and fabulous trainers makes Optimal Health & Fitness a five-star business. The trainers will take time and work with you one-on-one and alter the routine for your specific needs. They will motivate you with skill and tact to help you workout to your fullest potential. I couldn't say enough good things about OHF.

OHF is true to its name; it really helped me get back on track to health and fitness in a truly enjoyable way.  I love being outdoors in our beautiful surroundings and working out with a group of positive, energetic people.  Everyone is welcoming and kind.  LeTa is able to help adjust the class to fit our unique needs and fitness level. I have seen a distinct change in my fitness level, have lost weight and my overall attitude toward working out has improved.  I was really not enjoying the gym any more, especially during the nice weather season.  So, come join us for a while and see for yourself!

I have been "boot camping" for over a year now. I am pleased with my progress but am nowhere near bored. The work outs are challenging yet balanced with the beauty of the natural settings of the Santa Cruz area. I get a great work out & have enjoyed getting to know the other participants. I started Bootcamp with Leta and crew last spring, and I LOVE IT!!  Not only do we get to be outside in amazing local places, the workouts are fantastic and always changing.  I love the way the different trainers create very different experiences, and focus on different types of workouts

Bootcamp has given me the kickstart I was looking for, and I have noticed so many changes in my body, my stamina and my strength.  I was actually really nervous going into it, but everyone is so nice, so supportive and you can really get as hard a workout as you are looking for at whatever level you are at.  Not to mention that in Santa Cruz, you are often working out right at the ocean, at sunrise, with dolphins swimming by, or in the woods, so many incredible places!!  That was a gift that I wasn't expecting, to explore the place I live in a totally different way.   

Leta is a special, kind and open-hearted person, and she brings that kindness to the group, all while kicking your butt!  I cannot recommend it enough!

Leta is the best!  The 3 things I like best about OHF and working out with Leta and the gang is the diversity of location (we move from one beautiful locale to another each week or so), the hilarious Leta herself, and the opportunity to work in the fresh outdoors.

I also love working out in a group. it's good fun and very motivating...

I started training with OHF late this spring.  I couldn't be happier with the classes.  You simply cannot get as good a workout on your own as you can with this boot camp style program.  The teachers push you that extra bit harder than you could on your own and the exercises work your entire body - such a good feeling!!

Plus, seeing the sunrise at seabright, running hills in soquel, or starting your weekend at Frederick street park...it's like a mini tour of our area combined with a great workout and fun people.  highly recommended.
